Daily writing prompt
What are your thoughts on the concept of living a very long life?

I know I have already responded to this, but does this not also apply to the animal kingdom, our pets? Those animals that have chosen to share their lives with us? I say this cause I am faced today with having to say good bye to my cat, her name is Lulu and she is sick: refusing fluids, very lethargic, massive weight loss. She is an old lady now: nearly fifteen and I cannot see any good reason for prolonging her life. She does not appear to be in discomfort, there again I am not her, but her quality of life has collapsed, she is being watered through a syringe and then only under protest. As their keepers we have this power of attorney to let go of or sustain life, likewise if your loved one was n acute discomfort and medication did not work what would your choice be? Some people might say it is for God to decide, Humans cannot play at God or are not allowed to make that decision. The law (In the UK at least) Now says we can within certain bounds. If I was a cat with chronic ill health and in acute discomfort with no practicable means of treatment I hope you would do the decent thing> I love my cat she has been spent nearly 8 of her fifteen years with me and a lot of that short time was spent in foster care and or being maltreated. I cannot bear the thought that her finality should be spent in any form of suffering.

She/ we will be going to the vet this afternoon for just after 12 noon, I do not think she will be coming home this afternoon.

  1. Happy to say she has returned home, my own rocky emotional state was countered by the vets sound knowledge for which I am eternally grateful
