What do you enjoy most about writing?

Writing provides a place to be creative and escape from everyday life for a little while. especially if it is the process of writing a book, a story, a novel. It provides great satisfaction, a place to dream and perhaps another means to provide an income. That is of course if it ever goes further than sitting on my desktop. Nobody will see it there, of that I am sure.

The searching for suitable sites to sell my product is another matter altogether. i find it quite horrible, or is that my ego speaking? the sooner my finger gets yanked out of the deep hole it is buried in the better. Spending too long in my comfort zone, does no good whatsoever in fact it is positively unhealthy. This has not much to do with writing, but may help in getting things moving, making progress, even an income. The truth be told, creative writing did not seem to be much like me at school and this may have stuck. So that is something that could probably do with being surrendered and let go of. Writing is clearly beneficial, it is waking my head up to what has to be done. This was known already of course, its just the action that is missing. Hard copy publishing, e books the choice is varied and the advantages to both are quite clear. There are also authors fairs in my city, so perhaps I ought to have a gamble and give it a go. Working for someone else has proven a waste of time, so maybe that is something else to consider when I am not writing about early twentieth century Austria. Actually I have just jumped forwards twenty years, which is helping me along with ideas.

I like writing, it helps me clear my head, it is relaxing and it is fun. I have not yet tried poetry and may well apply for an M.A. programme sometime. Did I mention this idea once before? If so. it has not yet come to fruition and may just be egotistical to want some more letters after my name. However another period of learning could be quite good fun and despite the travails of the last one I actually enjoyed myself. Mind you, I don’t think I would want to do it again, or maybe as part of a creative writing degree. In the meantime it would be better to do some homework on self publishing, it might just pay better.
