If this was possible and lets say it was, I would invite an Austrian artist known to the world as Adolf Hitler. I like his work, he could draw like a champion and had good taste in what he created. That he later got himself involved in politics is by the by and fully understandable. Not many people make it big in the art world and plenty artists die before being appreciated or for that matter making any money. Hitler had the good sense to see which way the wind was blowing and moved with the breeze. That was all after World War One of course when people needed a new direction and there were perhaps more important things to do than splosh paint on canvas and as an artist myself I can testify though art is very important, we have to take practical steps to feed ourselves and provide shelter first.
I would ask him about his childhood, I have read plenty of work on him but want to hear it from the horses mouth and not just some historian who never met him and might have an agenda to keep to. I would also probably tell him his book was so deathly dull especially in the second half that it would be a miracle if anyone read the wretched thing without crying out of boredom. ( I read it travelling to Hong Kong) And it is well boring. It would be interesting to see if he has changed any of his ideas in the meantime or would he say he was right all along? Looking at the current state of the world I think he had a good point or three. He would probably want to talk about his Alsatian dog Blondi and his girlfriend Eva Braun. Would she be able to attend, it would be great if she could but understandable if circumstances don’t allow. AH was always private about his home life and would have told magazines like Hallo and OK to go to hell, though in an alternate reality you might have seen Herr Hitler invites us to his mountain retreat at the Berghof. (I have been there) And we meet his and his wives pet dogs. She had two terrier like dogs named Stasi and Negus
One would have to be considerate and try not to mention the war, after all people experienced things differently according to where they were and some people suffered more than others. It is only considerate and polite to bear this sort of thing in mind and it would be nice perhaps to get a return invitation. One should also bear in mind the man was a vegetarian and tee total to, I am a nominal vegetarian and prefer veggie over meat, I am also happily tee total. I guess that makes two things in common, not too mention art and a love of the mountains which make four. Perhaps there are more and I am sure there are. I wonder how he would react the cats, I know he loved animals but the cats miht not like the dogs snuffling around them or should we have dinner at a more neutral venue where pets won’t start begging and getting in the way of things. Just to be sure I would invite my mate Andy to come along and help make up the numbers.
