These last days the weather has been stinking hot and doing anything is a trial. Gardening is a nightmare, the other day it was ripping a load of Ivy down. The dust! The dust! I was covered in this filthy stuff, in my hair, eyes…Covered. The sweat just made it worse, the warm weather, even more so. Yesterday did not involve so much Ivy but was still filthy hot, I was glad to be done and head home. I think the simple truth is I am not very good with the heat, working in it even more so. Today I elected to have a day off and just as the weatherman said, it is clouding over and we can expect storms. It will be to stand out in it, feel the cool water on my head and back and breathe in the Ozone and fresh clean air. The Earth will be glad for a drink too.
On the subject of weather and it being dry, I found a rather dead and dried out frog on the doormat this morning. I found it the hard way, by stepping on it. It did not go squelch or leave a nasty jam between my toes, it was too far gone for that. It was just a hard lump, like a stone or a bit of wood. I threw its corpse in the bushes, not something in me is saying I should have buried it. Another part is saying if that door had been left open last night, this may never have happened. But it did and with that we are one less frog in Blackbird Leys.
Funny how the death of one small creature in my backyard can piss me off for an entire day, Yet, the mass slaughters going on around the yard pass me by. Does that make me a monster for not weeping at any of this? Well the truth is I do, but channel that energy into other more worthwhile pursuits. Nor do I claim to watch the news that often, the last time I did, it pissed me off so much I had to turn it off. But it is important to keep abreast of world events, it is even more important to appreciate that your news broadcaster might be hiding some of the facts, perhaps even distorting things to further their own agenda. It is not wise to listen to too many conspiracy theories, they can make you go crazy. Which of course is the point at which you realise the everything you have read and heard is true.
Or that of their political masters.
In other news I picked up a paintbrush and used it successfully. It will be nice to finally remove the artist’s block that has got in front of me. It will be better to regain a forward momentum, the storms and cooler weather will help of course as does a renewed sense of wanting to get stuff done, to be creative, productive and other good things too.
